You’re Beautiful ep.1

Here we go…the start of something awesome.

Although this is the only one I think I’ll cap all year (I might be persuaded to do one more, but it’s so much work that it’s tough unless I do it during the summer), this isn’t my favorite drama. I think Coffee Prince will keep that spot.

I actually took like 200 caps per episode lolomg you have no idea how much I had to cut down and agonize over which ones to use. XD Actually there’s still 90 caps here :3

However, You’re Beautiful has a lot of my favorite elements, including the old ‘gender-bender reverse-harem’ that I love so much. (Ouran High School Host Club, anyone? AWESOME anime and manga.) And a cute main cast. And Kpop singers. And talent. And good outfits. Just…a lot of good stuff.

So the episode starts out in a convent. Huh. I wasn’t expecting nuns when I heard ‘You’re Beautiful’ and ‘Lee Hongki’.

Here comes our main character, late for church and running. And wearing a blue habit.

She’s late, but has to stop and pray. LOL!

Anyway she makes it into the church, and notices this kid watching something on her iPod or whatever…I had no idea what it was but I’ll tell you guys since I know now: It’s A.N.Jell’s mini concert!

She tries to tell the kid to stop and that kid makes the most hilarious disgusted expressions while totally ignoring her!

Gemma (This is not her real name, it’s her Catholic name) even goes behind the girl’s seat and tries to take the earphones from her, but accidentally pulls them out of the player. The player goes flying, and guess what…

…A.N.Jell’s music blasts out for the whole church to hear.

Gemma crawls around searching for it and then dies once she actually gets it. Metaphorically, though. Judging by the nuns’ expressions, this is a relatively common thing XD

Now, I didn’t even read a summary of You’re Beautiful before watching it, so when I saw the band, I was like, “Hey, C.N.Blue’s making a cameo because Yonghwa’s in this drama!”

WRONG. That is the country’s most popular (?) band, A.N.Jell. (Angel. HAHAHAHAHAHA Bad pun -_-) I realized this when I saw Hongki playing the drums.

I have a thing for bands, and DAMN Jang Geun Suk has a good voice. They are HOT. Also, it’s an awesome song.

Their lead singer, Taekyung, has strained his voice and they’re bringing in another singer so he can rest. He doesn’t think anyone else is fit for the job.

DUDE. SINCE WHEN DO NUNS RIDE SCOOTERS.

There’s this creepy van following her, so she tries to get out of his way but he wants to talk. Eventually he has to cut her off and block the road so she’ll stop and talk.

He asks if she knows Go Minam. She does, but doesn’t want to say anything until he tells her why. He compares her to the picture of Minam, and says it’s alike. From this, I gather that they’re twins.

The president of A.N.Jell’s company uses lots of gratuitous Engrish. He’s awesome XD

For some reason, Gemma starts to scream. That creepy guy asks why, so she knees him in the crotch. LOOOOOL Then he tries to get up and she brains him with her motorcycle helmet. Then she drives off (without putting her helmet back on, I might add) and he hobbles into his car to follow her. The whole scene is completely loltastic.

Oh yeah, turns out that Go Minam is her older brother.

After a long chase, he manages to tell her that something wrong with Minam. That makes her stop.

Apparently, that new member of A.N.Jell IS Go Minam. Whaddaya know.

BTW Gemma lives under a rock and doesn’t know A.N.Jell.

Gemma is so focused on telling that guy that she’s not officially a nun. Eventually, he can’t take it anymore. LMAO

So something happened to Minam and that guy wants her to pretend to be him so that she can sign his contract. She’s all like, “Nothing happened right?”

THIS IS A LIE, I WILL TELL YOU RIGHT NOW. XD XD XD

The fans are all lined up waiting for A.N.Jell to appear.

Poor fans have been waiting 3 days to meet them. Actually…that’s pretty creepy.

The fanclub president drops her fan, so Gemma goes to return it. Then she sees A.N.Jell. She is dumbstruck by their beauty (I would be too).

Hongki (I love him in this drama, well, all the time really, but especially here) thinks she’s awesome ’cause she’s a nun and he signs her fan (which really isn’t hers…bet that fangirl wants it back now!). He’s all bright and friendly and DAMN IT I REALLY WANT TO MEET HONGKI NOW. He said Jeremy reflects 70% of his personality…that’s 70% cuteness and lovable optimism!

The creepy guy who’s actually Minam’s manager (I’m tired of trying to find other ways to describe him, since I already know who he is) gives her clothes to disguise herself. He wonders if she’s a fan because she’s holding the angel fan.

^ LOL WHAT?

Her face looks really round and it doesn’t look like she has a lot of hair…the look gradually improves throughout the drama though, don’t worry!

She’s all like, “I feel like this is fraud” and he says, “Don’t worry, you just have to sign some papers”, but she’s signing as Minam and not herself. ISN’T THAT ACTUALLY FRAUD?

A mini argument about the pants ensues. LOL. I love the manager and look forward to all his appearances. He’s so cute rofl^^

FRAUD.

Taekyung meets ‘Minam’. Love her clothes, BTW.

Taekyung drags her with him into their practice room and locks them in with the other members. People arrive and just bang on the windows telling him to open up. Wouldn’t he get fired for this or something? (Can you imagine Teuk or Yunho doing this to someone? LMFAO)

She sees the other members and is super jumpy.

Hongki’s first impression:

He wants her to sing to prove how good she is. UH OH.

She freezes up (and looks a bit stupid to me, honestly, how long can you just stand there looking surprised? Get used to that look on her face; she has it for most of the drama.)

At the last moment, she starts to sing. Turns out those twin siblings share an angelic voice too.

Everyone is totally amazed.

Hongki is adorbs. (OKAY, YES, I JUST WANTED TO CAP HIS FACE A LOT. STOP JUDGING ME.)

Manager is overcome with emotion! XD

So he even buys her something to drink, but she’s all like, “I’m going to Rome to pray for the rest of my life. Please tell my brother for me.”

Huh? She has to stay as Minam for a month? But why?

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL MINAM’S PLASTIC SURGERY WENT WRONG. DYING NOW.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

So he has to stay in the States until it gets fixed, and then do his rehabilitation (what would that be anyway? Blinking?).

It gets worse than just singing and dancing. She also has to…

Yup. That’s right. Live in the dorms with them.

Well, she refuses. That night she has a talk with the Reverend Mother about how it’s God’s will that she goes to Rome, but the Reverend Mother doesn’t think so. Gemma isn’t gonna listen! She goes to the airport anyway the next morning.

Guess who else is there?

Hongki is being adorable (although they haven’t clearly mention it yet, he is Jeremy and Yonghwa is Shinwoo, and those are the names I’ll call them from now on) and talking about how they should go drinking and stuff.

Taekyung decides to go for a cup of coffee. On his way, he knocks into Gemma. They accidentally switch stuff because Gemma panics and thinks he’ll recognize her, so she runs away.

Taekyung wants to give back her plane ticket (he doesn’t even mention his cellphone once, though).

Thus ensues an incredibly long and funny chase as he tries to find her to give back the ticket and she keeps avoiding him.

Ah, he doesn’t care/know about his cellphone because he has another. But she needs her ticket back!

He even gets the other two to help out.

Shinwoo is so photogenic and kind, he even knows just when to turn his head while walking so the fans can take a photo. That’s talent right there.

JEREMY, why so cute? Him and his ice cream ^o^

It’s almost boarding time and he can’t find her…But WTF they’re standing like 15 feet away from each other.

She has to get her ticket back! LOL at the scenario she comes up with, running and just grabbing it out of his hand.

But the others arrive and she abandons her plan. Well, it’s too late anyway. Flight = missed. Taekyung just takes the ticket with him.

She stays in the airport until her plane takes off and then decides she might as well listen to the songs on Taekyung’s phone LOL. It’s a really nice song, the main theme (I like all the songs in this drama!).

Why does Minam want to sing anyway?

She has a flashback to when she and her brother were being bullied by other kids, and the kids kept saying ‘Shame on you!’ because they had no parents. Mean little brats.

She’s lost now that she’s not going to Rome. (Why doesn’t she just go back to the monastery and tell them she missed her flight? Oh, right. That would ruin the whole drama.)

In the end, she decides to be Go Minam. Time for that press conference!

IMO she’s really pretty as a girl (not with the fake wigs she gets later on though, but with her real hair).

Hey, irl you can’t just give yourself a haircut and have it look so nice >:(

All these reporters come to see!

Out she comes!

Taekyung does not look pleased. I love that pout though ♥

There’s some woman watching them and drinking. She wonders if Taekyung looks like her. Is it his mom? (I’ll just call her the alcoholic woman from now on, that’s all I ever thought of her anyway.)

So they’re having a party and AFTER SCHOOL IS PERFORMING RIGHT NEARBY. Minam’s manager is a fanboy and gets one of the girls to touch him (I can’t tell who, the video is too LQ ;~; why is my life like this).

Everyone is enjoying themselves except King Spoilsport and Minam (who is confused more than annoyed).

I didn’t cap her reaction to the champagne, but LOL MINAM DRINKING. She sticks her tongue out so many times it looks like she’s a snake! XD

They go to a club to celebrate. After BOF’s lol-worthy dancing scenes, Hongki seems like a natural. Yonghwa still looks awkward though lololol and I think they’re doing the hokey pokey or something at one point XDDDD

Minam and her manager meet the coordi, Wang. She totally knows Minam is a girl and sexually harasses her before deciding it’s okay and nobody will notice she’s a girl because Minam’s boobs aren’t big anyway. ^^;;

She also likes hitting the manager

All the girls are surrounding Minam. They think s/he’s super cute and comment on her skin and whatnot.

Minam…just keeps drinking, lol.

Noooo….not drunk at all…..

Manager tells her to stay there so he can get ice water. Of course, Minam leaves. She needs to find the bathroom!

She has enough senses left to go into the guys’ bathroom and starts talking to statue XDDDD

Jeremy finds her and leads her to the ACTUAL bathroom on the 2nd floor. She’s all like, “Riiight. I’m a guy.”

Jeremy has no confidence in her walking skills. Once again, I marvel at Hongki’s expressions.

It’s hot, so drunk!Minam decides to TAKE OFF HER CLOTHES. Luckily, she just stops with the red shirt.

She finds Shinwoo standing behind her. He thinks she looks stuffy, so she should unbutton her shirt. Minam freaks out. In a very passive-agressive, drunk, agreeable way. She puts back on the shirt and pretends to not be stuffy at all (even though she’s sweating).

Shinwoo gives her directions to the balcony so she can get fresh air, but tells her to wait so he can bring her some coffee to sober up. Minam doesn’t wait.

Jeremy notices her stumbling away and wonders, horrified, if she’s gonna go pee somewhere else because she’s drunk.

She makes it to the balcony. Taekyung is there too, and sees her. She kind of collapses against the balcony lolomg I was so scared she might fall off the roof or something.

She starts gagging. Taekyung pulls her back because he thought she was going to fall, and she’s like “I FEEL QUEASY”.

He tells her to go to the bathroom, but she’s too close to throwing up for that. HE HOLDS OUT A PAPER CUP LOLOLOLOL “Is this good enough?”

She’s like NO WAY.

PLASTIC BOTTLE IS NEXT, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING TAEKYUNG XDDDD

Finally he takes a plant out of its pot and she hurls into the pot, Taekyung looks like he’s going to throw up too. I know how he feels! I always feel queasy when I hear someone throwing up.
